  1. Think about why countries might feel the need to commemorate a war: What does it mean to commemorate? What are some examples of war memorials or commemorations you are familiar with in the US? Whose perspective should be taken into account when a country commemorates a war? How might a victorious nation's commemoration be different from that of a nation that lost the war? Do you know anything about the Confederate Statues controversy and if so what's your opinion?
