SWBAT evaluate how appeasement and the world's economic crises prevented countries and the League of Nations from standing up to aggressor nations such as Germany, Italy, and Japan and how this resulted in the outbreak of WWII


  1. Read Module 13 Lesson 4 and answer questions in the study guide
  2. You may also wish to look over the power point "From Aggression to War" (to further expose you to the information relating to the reasons for WWII)  
  3. Watch the following mini-documentaries about the events leading up to the outbreak of WWII in Europe and in Asia) 
  4. Was Appeasement Justified? (Take notes on: What was it, why was it used, and in what ways were Germany and Italy appeased? At what point did France and the UK decide to finally stop any further appeasements?)
  5. World War II (Summary of the Deadliest Conflict in History) and World War II: Crash Course in History  (take notes summarizing the main events, interesting things you come across, etc.)
